The contest requires the students to submit their own research abstract on a topic in Perfusion Technology of their own choosing. The scientific abstract should be in case report form:
The submitted abstract should be titled and include a brief description of the case and it's pertinence to perfusion practice.
The body of the case report will describe the patient and their history, clinical details of the operative procedure, perfusion equipment and techniques utilized and the outcome of the procedure.
In addition, the student will provide supportive background for the case presented reflecting on the history and development of the operative procedure, development of surgical and perfusion techniques for the procedure and related developments.
Finally, a conclusion summarizing the report and identifying problems and possible solutions or areas to further research.
The MPS board of directors will review all submitted complete abstracts and award the winner a $750.00 cash prize. The winner will be expected to present their abstract at our 2010 annual meeting in Springfield, Missouri June 11 & 12, with travel and 2 nights lodging expenses paid for by The Missouri Perfusion Society.
The contest is open until March 31st, 2010 with the winning abstract to be announced shortly afterward.
